Becoming a Member
You may become a Fellowship Member simply by signing the membership book, but making the decision to sign that book is the hard part. As you are looking us over and deciding whether you wish to be a part of this group, please feel free to ask questions. The Membership Team holds New UU classes as needed. These classes will give you vital information about the denomination and about this Fellowship. If you need the class and one has not been scheduled, you may ask the Membership Comittee for assistance.
When you have decided to join, please notify a member of the Membership Committee of your wish so they can assist you. Membership entitles you to participate and vote in our semi-annual congregational meetings. Members are expected to make a financial contribution of record within each pledge year (July-July). Members are not required to make a specific pledge, but are encouraged to do so as that helps our Board anticipate and set a budget for the upcoming year. Anyone unable to donate money may donate volunteer time instead. Most members will contribute money and volunteer as well. For those who cannot, we understand and respect that.
If membership sounds like more of a commitment than you are ready to make, you may become a Friend of the Fellowship. Being a Friend does not admit you to voting membership, and does not obligate you to contribute money or time. Many of our Friends do become deeply involved in Fellowship volunteer activities that they enjoy. Becoming a Friend is a less formal process. Members may notice your participation and have you added to our lists, or you may talk to the Membership Committee to initiate a request to be designated a Friend.
As a Member or Friend, you should submit your contact information to our Office Administrator so that your name and information can be included in our Fellowship Directory. Inclusion in the directory will add you to our mailing lists so that you will be kept informed of upcoming UUFT events and news. You should be given access to our private Facebook page, which is another way to stay abreast of UUFT happenings.
It is important to keep your contact information up-to-date so that you get timely information.
